A feeling, a glimpse, a disrupted image of a memory. Intangible but at the same time powerful and destabilizing. There, but not There. We are working toward an individual experience of times taken back — locating ourselves in the murkiness of definition that comes with the territory of our constructed past. Memory serves us, but at the same time creates a doubt and a potential double take of what we latch onto. We seek refuge in our thoughts, and, try as we may, our ability to explain falls short of our internal certainty. The work struggles to confront its inherent lack, but it is within that we find a commonality of purpose, a shared experience. The work is a gift, an attempt to connect with our inability to express the things that we can recognize in each other. Fleeting, ephemeral, and all the qualities that we cherish but must let go of if we want to move on. There, But Not There.
